The program includes the presentation of last year’s annual report as well as the nomination of a new chairperson. We start together with a dinner prepared by Mohamed Al-Noor, a member of the artist collective We Sell Reality. This is an Amsterdam-based art collective consisting of designers and artists who came to The Netherlands as refugees. They make products, installations, and performative interventions in public spaces that reflect on the paradox of closed borders for one and open borders for the other. In a market where the survival of the fittest apply, We Sell Reality shows the reality of people in the most vulnerable position. The meal is offered on a donation basis for members of Platform BK, and for 10,- euros for non-members. Please send us an email if you are joining the dinner before May 27th.

By hosting this year’s members’ meeting at GROND in Bajesdorp, we shed light on artist-run initiatives who have taken matters into their own hands for setting up affordable living/working spaces. Platform BK has been committed to this issue for years. During this meeting, we would like to briefly share the current status and policies-in-making for artist living/working spaces, and what the next steps could be for art, artists and art workers in our cities and society – always in solidarity with other non-extractive professions.
