Update: Artist studios / Flow-through Flush-out policy

We are very happy to announce that the enforcement of the ‘doorstroombeleid’ was postponed with one year. More updates soon!

The artist studio policy in Amsterdam is closely watched by art workers, administrators, politicians and stakeholders in other municipalities, particularly as a ‘flow-through/flush-out’ policy was scheduled to go into effect very soon. The policy, which was adopted in 2016, entailed that artists would be evicted from their studios after 10 years of renting. This means that the first evictions would be in 2026. Obviously, Platform BK has always opposed this, together with Kunstenbond, the independent CAWA committee and many others. Due to our collective efforts, the enforcement of the policy was postponed with one year, pending further research. A survey as part of this research was recently conducted by Ipsos. The first results have been discussed with the arts and artists advocacy initiatives involved, yet the interpretation process is ongoing, so more news will follow soon!
