The Corona virus has an immense impact on the cultural sector. Especially independent artist and freelancers experience negative effects. The Dutch Arts Union want the government to come up with special measures for the cultural sector, in which tens of thousands of workers are out of work because of closing museums or canceled shows in theaters and other venues. Freelancers in the cultural and creative sector can report their problems and loss of income to the Arts Union using a website devised for the purpose.
‘Tell us what you go experience and report your cancellations using this special website. You can decide which information to report on the event, the planned date and the lost income. We do not share your data with thirds, but use it to create an overview of the impact of the measures. The Arts Union is in contact with the government and MP’s, to see which national or local measures can be enhanced for freelancers in the cultural sector, such as welfare for freelancers (Bbz). Bbz was created for entrepreneurs with temporary financial problems, among other groups.’
