Solidarity in North Amsterdam

How can artists and art institutions question gentrification without themselves becoming an instrument of these processes? How can they take their responsibility and show solidarity with other groups that are excluded and not heard? What are strategies, challenges and pitfalls?

As part of the long-term Social Capital programme, TAAK and NDSM OPEN are organising the second Social Capital Fishbowl on Sunday 29 September. Everyone in Noord who has to deal with the consequences of gentrification is invited to talk to each other this afternoon, Chris Keulemans will lead the discussion.

Participants: Massih Hutak (Defended North), artists bart & ready, Arthur van Beek and Aukje Dekker (Sexyland), Hay Schoolmasters (ADM, Urban Resort), Joram Kraaijeveld (Platform BK, Geen Stad Zonder Kunst), Arthur Kneepkens (SAM – Social Artistic Museum) and artist/researcher Boo van der Vlist.
